Our PM Kiriakos Mitsotakis spoke to us tonight from the International Fair that takes place every year around this time in Thessaloniki.
Security measures were taken to safeguard the event with strong police presence as many protestors about major issues always gather on this occasion every year.
The PM promised several measures in order to better balance the inflation crisis we are facing , the demographic problem as we are an aging people , some tax reductions and so on and so forth as his popularity has decreased lately and this is the perfect opportunity to address the nation and try to improve on his image.
He promised tax free income for those up to 26 years of age that are employed BUT these are very few in numbers, most are unemployed or studying or never bothered to register as unemployed. We have about 23 % rate for this age group afterall so this <<gift>> is basecally for a few and when he said with an annual income of up to 20.000 euros, then we understand that since for the majority who get the basic salary is much much lower and always tax free then we must be talking about the few highly privilleged who had a powerful friend who gave them such a job with this impressive high yearly salary.
Tax reductions for those who make more than average were the main theme of his announcements. I guess his feedback must be from another country and he got confused. I am sure he had a good intention overall. When you are missinformed and they give you the statistics of Luxembourg and not of Greece before you give your speech.. then I understand how it can start sounding like a stand up comedy.
Nevertheless we must have faith since the PM said we are doing so well then it must be true but we fail to understand it...
