Every year we hear stories about windy conditions that prevent travelling by boat or rarely by airplane.
This summer a ferry boat in Greece going to Evia got stuck as it ran aground loaded with passengers and their cars. People got off safely but their cars were stranded on the boat for a few days. They reported that there were no announcements and help from the crew and private boats helped them out.
Other ships were supposed to go to the isalnds and they got stranded after a ban due to very strong winds ecc. The thing is forecasters say that most of the time these weather patterns are predictable five or even ten days ahead.
In this scenario it is not understandable why they allow people to go through the ordeal to have to wait under the hot sun for endless hours on the day of departure sometimes even cancelling their vacation.
Another point I wanted to address is the fact that under these dangerous conditions planes still fly, risky landings authorized by who exactly? We have all seen planes to approach the landing area only to take off again as the strong winds make it extremely difficult to land. Not to mention maintainance issues that have become very frequent across the globe and accidents happen more often than before.
I arrive to the conclusion human life does not matter too much these days nor passenger livelyhood. So long as the tickets are paid and holidays are booked who cares?
It will not surprise me at all if in the future we see less and less travelling not only because of the inflation but also because of thi attitude that ignores people's livelyhood and safety.
