Lately, there is a huge trend by Human resources departments at least in Athens Greece, to hold video meeting with all candidates in order to decide whether they are appropriate for the offered position.An option used in the midst of the covid era has reemerged now that there is no apparent reason and it is the must do thing regardless of candidate proximity to the company premices in order to participate in a natural and traditional interview. Maybe, you would say that all is good, hurrey to convenience and the lack of commuting ecc BUT think again my friends..Do you think a simple promice of data deletion is enough to cover your rights? Is there enough control by an independent gov/nt body on how sensitive data such as video calls are stored or used or are these being used -without our knowledge of course- as Ai training data or even worse?What government is going to bother these giagantic companies with effective and regular controls? My guess is " 0 " ...I firmly beleive the governments around the world would only activate a controlling mechanism after a reported damage and not as a prevension method.I suspect the eagerness to collect all these videos is NOT for convenience at all. If you wish to stretch a bit your imagination think about deep fake and how this would be used by real criminals in the dark web and how social engineering could allow some atypical call center of criminal nature to video call one of yours or your bank or other ..A good workaround could be the creation of a company logo that runs on the video rendering it impossible to misuse or a deletion screenshot proof being sent automatically to the candidate when the interview ends.
